NK’s Recommended Read: StrengthsFinder 2.0

In January, the NK team read Tom Rath’s StrengthsFinder 2.0 (the update to the 2001 New York Times bestseller by the Gallup Group). The book and accompanying online survey are designed to affirm the positive aspects of your personality and to give a standard language for the discussion of your strengths. For example, anyone who has read StrengthsFinder 2.0 knows what a “woo!” or an “activator” is. Every NK team member completed the online assessment; the characteristics with the highest number of matches were:

1. Achiever – Constant need for achievement, an internal fire pushing you to do more. The power supply that sets a swifter pace and greater level of productivity.
2. Strategic – A distinct way of thinking, the ability to see patterns in the complex helping you see around corners, evaluate and choose the right path and strike.
3. Empathy – Sensitive to the emotions around you, with an instinctive ability to understand, read between the lines, hear the unsaid, anticipate.
4. Ideation – Fascinated by ideas, always looking for connections, delighted in discovering a simple concept beneath the complex. Driven to create.
5. Intellection – Intrigued by the unique qualities of each person. Instinctively recognizing differences in what might seem homogeneous at first glance.
